I often get questions about a coming civil war in America. I always respond by stating that I assess that we are already in an ideological civil war in America. This growing scourge of progressive socialism and blatant disregard of our Constitution, our rule of law, can not be dismissed or debated.
We have elected officials in our Constitutional Republic who openly embrace a philosophy of governance that is completely antithetical to the fundamental principles and values of America. And, God bless the Left, they have willingly told us what they seek . . . the fundamental transformation of the United States of America.
I am not an alarmist, and certainly not a prepper. But, it is becoming more and more obvious to me that the progressive socialist left in America realizes that their fundamental transformation requires coercion, deceit, intimidation, and in some instances, violence to be implemented. After all, who would willingly want to exist in a socialist state? Okay, well, only those useful idiots who remind us that a “mind is a terrible thing to waste,” and are seemingly forever stuck on stupid. Sure, socialism sounds so enticing, nice, accommodating in the beginning; everyone is gonna get free stuff, as wealth is redistributed and offered in the form of government largesse . . . ya know, “from those according to their ability, to those according to their need.” The question is, and always shall be, who makes the decision on “ability” and “need?” How do they enforce compliance?
It’s simple, really. The world’s great dictators from the 20th century to today have all understood armed individuals are citizens, able to defend themselves . . . and that includes defending against the tyranny of government.
Recently, we saw in Venezuela how one man, Hugo Chavez, brought an entire prosperous nation to its knees. And, now, those who were once citizens are subjects, gunned down in the streets, since they no longer have that First Amendment right to “petition the government for redress of grievances.” But, how soon could it be that We the People, here in America could lose that very same right, among others?
No, I am not an alarmist, but I see what the progressive socialist left is doing all across our nation, at the State level. My sincere concern is that it does not end well, because it never has.
As reported by the Washington Free Beacon:
“The plan to ban the sale and possession of certain kinds of firearms proposed by Virginia governor Ralph Northam (D.) could affect millions of gun owners, an industry group said on Friday.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), which represents gun manufacturers and dealers, said the vague description of the legislation released by Northam on Jan. 4 would apply to most firearms currently on sale in the commonwealth.
“The legislative proposals being discussed would put most firearms beyond the reach of law-abiding Virginians who choose the firearms of their choice to protect themselves, hunt, and practice recreational target shooting,” said Lawrence G. Keane, the group’s general counsel. “That could potentially impact the availability of tens of millions of firearms.”
While short on details, Northam’s announcement said part of the proposed gun-control package would ban the “sale, purchase, possession, and transport” of undefined “assault firearms” including “any firearm that is equipped with a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds of ammunition.” Since the vast majority of semiautomatic handguns and rifles in the state are sold standard with magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds, it appears the proposed ban would affect most firearms on sale in Virginia. Additionally, the announcement of the ban did not include mention of any grandfathering to allow what NSSF estimated would be millions of Virginians who already own such firearms to legally keep them.
The governor’s office did not respond to multiple requests for more details on his proposed ban and confiscation plan or answer questions on how such a plan would be enforced.”
First of all, anything can be used to “assault” another person: knife, hammer, heck, even John Wick used a pencil. Once again we have the leftists in America seeking to implement their gun-control agenda by using inappropriate language. But what we are seeing happening in other States is this ten-rounds of ammunition magazine threshold. The first place to have this successfully implemented was New Jersey, and we also know that in Oregon they are seeking same.
So, as these absurd infringements are passed, then what happens to law-abiding, legal gun owners? Yes, they become unlawful, potential felons, and are set up for gun confiscation. That was my issue with the “bump stock” executive order. This is how it begins, the march towards disarming Americans.
Just who are these people, like Governor Northam of Virginia to make the determination as to how many rounds I should have? Perhaps they will become so delusional as to assert that you only need one since the Second Amendment was written at the time of muzzle-loading muskets, single shot. That is why James Madison, a Virginian, and author of our Constitution added in the prescient language in the Second Amendment, “shall not be infringed.” Any attempt to tell me, a law-abiding citizen, how many rounds of ammunition my legally purchased weapon can have, is an infringement.
Furthermore, if weapons holding more than a 10-round magazine are determined to be “illegal,” then the weapon itself, well, you get my logic. And, yes, consider the intended consequences for the gun manufacturing industry. Never forget, the British were engaged at Lexington Green on April 19, 1775, by armed American Patriots because they were en route to Concord Massachusetts to destroy an armaments factory.
Some things never change when it comes to tyranny!
We shared with you the ballot initiative being proposed in Florida that would actually change the Second Amendment language and redefine “militia” in that State’s constitution. All of this is happening at a time when the left wants open borders, and they show no concern towards Americans who have been murdered by criminal illegal immigrants, many of who reside in designated “sanctuary” states and cities controlled by the progressive socialist left. Leftists advocate to abolish ICE and even make excuses for violent illegal immigrant gangs such as MS-13 claiming that they have a “spark of divinity.” Yet, as Governor Northam presents, the real issue in America is with law-abiding people having more than 10 rounds. The criminals will pay no attention to that, they never do.
We hear the left talking about 70-90 percent in individual tax rates. They want to force all Americans onto Medicare, rendering private health insurance coverage illegal. This is what is so very disconcerting for me, and it should be for you. The left has no boundaries, and Hillary Clinton asserted that there can only be civility when they are in control, in power. The left has unleashed this thing called the “Resistance” movement and fully embraces and sponsors a group called Antifa, who has enacted violence, and has not been held accountable, or even designated as a domestic terrorist organization.
All of this is happening while the left is doing any and everything it can to disarm the law abiding American people.
What happens when law-abiding Americans say no? Does the left believe it is within their right to forcefully disarm Americans, confiscate legally purchased firearms from citizens who have done no wrong . . . other than not giving in to progressive socialist tyranny? Does the left realize the match that they are potentially about to light?
Let me clarify something here. I am speaking as a Board member of the National Rifle Association. I am speaking as an American, one who took an oath to support and defend our Constitution against all enemies, foreign, and domestic. What Governor Ralph Northam, and his ilk, are pursuing is squarely placing them in opposition to our Constitution, our rule of law. And there is no equivocating for me when it comes as to what side I will take.
